I am writing in the hopes that anyone who served aboard the USS MARVIN SHIELDS (FF-1066) can contact me at 'moses@inreach.com' in order to build a database of past shipmates who served on The Mighty Marv. The SHIELDS, along with the rest of the entire 1052-Class Fast Frigates, has been decommissioned, but not forgotten. I encourage you to visit the website dedicated to Marvin G. I served in WWII aboard a Gearing Class Tin Can. I was a Radarman on the USS Rogers DD/DDR876. The Gearing Class was truly a remarkable class that serverd our country well through three wars as well as the periods of peace in between.
